Thompson School District announced that it had named John Steckel Interim Principal at Conrad Ball Middle School. He will fill the position vacated by Todd Ball, who has departed the district.
This past January, Valerie Lara-Black was hired to serve as the principal of the new PK-8 campus, which will open in the fall of 2023. Ms. Lara-Black, currently the principal at Mary Blair Elementary School in Loveland, will begin her new principal role at the campus on July 1, 2023.
Mr. Steckel currently serves as the Career and Technical Education / Career Academy Program Coordinator for Aims Community College in Greeley, Colorado. In his role, he has led the identification and building of CTE program pathways for schools and districts. His career includes experience as the Executive Director of a K-8 school in Greeley, Colorado, Director for the Innovation Center in St. Vrain Valley School District, and additional principal and teaching positions since 2001.

Mr. Steckel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Earth Science from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.
