Thompson School District announced today that it has named Jesse Tijerina as the Director of Federal and State Programs, effective July 1. He will fill the position that is being vacated by Cheryl Cook, who is retiring from the district. In the position, Mr. Tijerina will manage district federal and state accountability and improvement programs in accordance with federal guidelines, as well as state accountability requirements and school district policy. He will also oversee the planning, implementation, compliance and accountability of federal, state and district improvement grant programs.
Jesse Tijerina is currently working as the Director of Cultural Excellence and Family Engagement for Greeley-Evans School District 6 in Greeley, Colorado. His career in the district also includes service as an Assistant/Associate Principal at Greeley Central High School and as an Assistant Principal for Maplewood Elementary School.
Mr. Tijerina earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Metropolitan State College of Denver and he also holds a Masters degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the University of Colorado Denver.
