Thompson School District is pleased to announce that it has named Dr. John Dumbleton as the principal of Riverview PK-8 School in Johnstown, effective July 1. He will fill the position that is being vacated by Rick Bowles at the conclusion of the school year.
Dr. John Dumbleton is currently serving as an assistant principal at Aurora Hills Middle School, a position that he has held since July 2022. In addition, he has worked in several other roles within Aurora Public Schools, including as an assistant principal at Yale Elementary School, as a Literacy Instructional Coordinator in the Division of Equity in Learning and as a Literacy Instructional Coach for two years at Aurora Hills Middle School. His educational career also includes three years of service at Denver Public Schools as an English Language Arts instructor and three years working as an international teacher in Bogota, Columbia.
“I am grateful for and humbled by the opportunity to build strong partnerships with students, families, and staff at Riverview,” Dr. Dumbleton said. “There are so many positive things that are already in place and we will build upon those strengths to prepare our students to be critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and future leaders.”
