In a special meeting held today, the Thompson School District Board of Education approved a resolution appointing Dr. Bret Heller as the finalist for Superintendent of Schools, pending successful contract negotiations.

Dr. Bret Heller is currently serving as the Superintendent of Schools for the School Town of Munster in Indiana. Prior to that role, he held leadership positions in the West Ada School District in Idaho, including Assistant Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Dr. Heller’s career in education also includes service as a high school principal and middle school principal in Idaho. He holds a Doctor of Education degree from Northwest Nazarene University, along with advanced degrees in Educational Leadership.

Once a contract is finalized, it will then be considered for formal adoption by the Board of Education at a future meeting. Additional details will be released when they are available.

On April 17, the Board of Education announced that it had selected three candidates to interview for the superintendent position, which will be vacated by Dr. Marc Schaffer on June 30. District visits and interviews of the candidates were conducted from April 29 to May 1.
