Thompson School District announced today that Shannon Brennan has been named principal of Centennial Elementary School, effective September 2. She is filling the position that was vacated by Dr. Carmen Polka, who was recently appointed to the district position of Executive Director of Early Childhood and Elementary Schools.

Ms. Brennan most recently served as the Director of Teaching, Learning and Assessment for the North Wasco County School District in The Dalles, Oregon. She is very familiar with the education system in Colorado, having previously worked for seventeen years as a teacher in the St. Vrain Valley School District.

“I am honored to serve as the principal of Centennial Elementary School and am excited to partner with the students, families and staff who make this community so special,” Ms. Shannon Brennan said. “I firmly believe that by fostering a secure and supportive environment, we empower each student to reach their full potential. I look forward to working together to continue the tradition of excellence at Centennial Elementary School.”

Ms. Brennan earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Saint Joseph’s University and also holds two Master’s degrees—one in Elementary Education and another in Leadership in Educational Organizations from the University of Colorado-Boulder and the University of Colorado-Denver.
