“Hard work pays off- Elena Torres had an outstanding season for LHS cross-country! After placing 3rd at the KU RimRock Farm Classic in Lawrence, Kansas, a nationally renowned XC course and race, everything kept rolling. The following week she procured the #1 spot for the 3rd year in a row at the Sweetheart Invitational- her home course. Elena was also the 5A-4 Regional Champion, helping her team to qualify for the XC State Championships in Colorado Springs. At the state meet, everything came together. On one of the tougher courses these teams run all season, Elena finished in the top ten for 5A girls, placing 8th overall. Earning All-State status for Colorado distance running is an exceptional feat, as our state produces some of the best runners nationwide. We are so proud of Elena’s athletic performance, but also appreciate the leader she is for this team and at Loveland High School.
