Thompson School District announced today that Amy Gerhard has been named Director of Early Childhood, effective July 21. She will fill the position that is held by Lamb Caro, who is retiring from the district this month.
Ms. Gerhard’s dedication to the Thompson School District spans three decades. She first joined the district as an early childhood special education teacher, later sharing her expertise as an instructional coach. For the past seven years, she has served as an assistant administrator for the district’s early childhood program.
“Stepping into the role of early childhood director is an opportunity that I am truly grateful for,” Ms. Gerhard said. “Being part of this program and this district has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am committed to continuing the important work that serves our students, families, staff, and community. I look forward to collaborating across Thompson School District to build on our strong foundation and provide joyful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that honor each child’s individual strengths and create a foundation for lifelong success.”
Ms. Gerhard earned a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She also holds a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education from the University of Northern Colorado. She completed the principal licensure program at Colorado State University and is a recent graduate of the distinguished Head Start Fellows Program at the University of California, Los Angeles’ Anderson School of Management.
