The “2023 Athletic and Activities Leadership Summit” was a powerful event that brought together more than 400 high school students from Thompson School District. The students gathered at the Colorado State University campus for a day of learning, growth, and empowering future leaders.
Keynote Speaker: Kevin Atlas
The highlight of the summit was the keynote address by Kevin Atlas, the first D1 player with one arm. Kevin is part of the Believe In You® speaking tour powered by Varsity Brands. His inspirational story and message of perseverance, determination, and the importance of having someone who believes in you were a source of inspiration for students. Kevin spoke about his journey, challenges, and how he overcame them.
Panel of CSU Student Leaders
Students also listened to a panel of Colorado State University student leaders. Panelists offered guidance and recounted their lessons, helping students understand how to excel in college and beyond. They emphasized developing leadership abilities, establishing objectives, and putting in the effort to reach them.
Tour of CSU
The students were also given a tour of the Colorado State University campus, providing a firsthand look at what life is like as a student at CSU. The tour allowed them to see the facilities and learn more about some of the many opportunities available.
The “2023 Athletic and Activities Leadership Summit” was a fantastic opportunity for the Thompson School District high school students to learn, grow, and be inspired. The keynote speaker, Kevin Atlas, and the panel of CSU student leaders left a lasting impression on the students, providing them with valuable insights and lessons they can take with them as they continue their journeys.
The summit also gave the students a glimpse into college life and the importance of promoting mental health. The event was a huge success, and the students were grateful for the opportunity to attend.
