Thompson School District announced today that it has named John Kleiber as principal of Bill Reed Middle School, effective July 1. He will fill the position being vacated by Arnold Jahnke, who is retiring from the district.

Mr. Kleiber is currently serving as the principal of Garfield Elementary School, a position that he has held since July 2016. As the sole administrator at the school, he has been responsible for all aspects of school management, including leadership, instruction, safety, evaluations, and community development. Mr. Kleiber’s career in education also includes serving as an assistant principal at Franklin Middle School and Ann K. Heiman Elementary School in Greeley, Colorado, as well as in multiple
teaching and administrative roles.

“It is such an honor to be named the next principal at Bill Reed Middle School, a school so steeped in history and tradition and a proud pillar of our amazing community,” Mr. Kleiber said. “I have had the opportunity to serve the Garfield Elementary community for the past seven years, and I look forward to seeing those proud Grizzlies as they have grown at Bill Reed.  It is a privilege to join the mission of Bill Reed and its incredible staff, who are fiercely committed to students each and every day.  I look forward to serving alongside staff, parents, students, and administrators to continue this school’s legacy of excellence in arts and academics.”

Mr. Kleiber earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Colorado State University-Pueblo and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado.
